In fifth grade,  We work with numbers in the billions.  Further more we touch on the place value past the billions.  The 'greek roots of 'bi',  'tri'  'quad' refers to the number of sets of zeros after one thousand.  Hence, a billion,  'bi' meaning two, has two sets of zeros after 1,000.
