When estimating multiplication problems  round to the last digit then multiply the last digit.

You also need to count the zeros in the problem and the same number of zeros will be in the answer.

Example:

49,871  x  675   is

50,000 x  700 =  35,000,000

5 x 7 = 35  and there are  7 zeros total in the factors.
